WINNIPEG – Kye-Yeon Son (the recipient of the 2011 Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence), Jayne Kidd, Cal Lane, Teresa Burrows and Greg Payce are the featured artists of “Precise: Craft Refined,” a new exhibition opening at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on September 10, 2011. These five contemporary artists integrate beads (Burrows), fibres (Kidd), clay (Payce), silver (Son), and industrial metals (Lane) into their art. The exhibition continues until January 15.
“Precise: Craft Refined” will also delve deeper into the world of crafts with several related events:

Canadian Society of Decorative Arts’ 29th Annual Symposium (September 22-25): Keynote address on the architecture of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights from the firms of Antoine Predock, Architect PC and Smith Carter Architecture. Open to the public.
Talk with Greg Payce (September 29 at 7 p.m.): Precise: Craft and Process
Nuit Blanche (October 1 at 7 p.m.): Free public opening

November 2 (12:10 p.m.) – Video: “Craft in America: Messages.” Next episode in the acclaimed PBS series exploring the craft movement in the United States.
November 9 (12:10 p.m.) – Tour with WAG Chief Curator Helen Delacretaz, curator of “Precise: Craft Refined.”
Art Eats (November 18 at 6 p.m.): Dinner at Storm Bistro followed by an exhibition tour.
