Orlando, Fla. – Casey Anthony, the Florida mother acquitted of murder, has returned to the state after spending a month with “spiritual advisers” in Ohio, her attorney Jose Baez said Sunday.
Baez appeared on the Fox News show of Geraldo Rivera, saying Casey headed to the Midwest after her release from jail on July 17, 2011, as a result of a jury of her peers finding her not guilty on July 5 of killing her toddler daughter, Caylee Anthony, 2.
“She has been with close friends of ours that are somewhat of spiritual advisers and people who care and are trying to help her get on with her life,” Baez told Rivera.
When questioned whether such advisers also included therapists, Baez replied in the affirmative.

“Right now she’s really trying to concentrate on getting counseling and therapy and trying to go to a place where she can be healthy and try to figure a lot of what’s happened out over the past three years… and go on with her life,” Baez noted.
The attorney also confirmed that Casey is back in Florida in the event that an appellate court determines that she must serve one year probation for a Jan. 2010 check fraud conviction.
“Whatever the courts decide we’re going to go along and follow the law and I’m certain she is going to do what’s asked of her but hopefully it won’t come to that,” Baez said.
The issue surrounds the controversy over whether Casey served probation behind bars while awaiting her murder trial, which her attorneys contend she did. Judge Belvin Perry ruled, however, that she did not serve probation in jail and must report to Florida officials regarding the matter by Aug. 26, 2011 at noon.

Casey’s attorneys have appealed the judge’s ruling saying to require her to serve probation for the check charge would amount to double jeopardy and violate her constitutional rights since she already completed the task.
