Larry Flynt, the founder of the pornographic magazine “Hustler” appeared on the HLN show “Nancy Grace” on July 28, 2011 to discuss an offer that is currently on the table for Casey Anthony to pose in the magazine for $500,000 plus 10% of the profits should the layout go viral. The initial reaction from callers to the program as well as the Casey Anthony Case Facebook group have been overwhelmingly negative with many threatening to boycott and showing disinterest in seeing Casey pose in the magazine. Some have questioned as to whether or not posing in the magazine would be helpful for Anthony as her attorneys have recently stated she is ready for therapy and wants to move forward with her life.

Casey Anthony first gained public attention in July 2008 when it was discovered that she had failed to report the disappearance of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. Casey Anthony claimed that she left Caylee with a nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez, who ultimately kidnapped the child. Caylee Anthony’s remains were discovered on December 11, 2008 just blocks from the home she shared with her mother and grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony. Though charged with first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse, Casey Anthony was acquitted by a jury of her peers on July 5, 2011 and walked out of the Orange County Department of Corrections a free woman on July 17, 2011. Still, the overwhelming majority of the public refers to Casey Anthony as a woman who “got away with murder.” Such a response has caused many to voice their protest over anything that would cause Casey to profit from the death of her daughter.
Sitting in for Nancy Grace was Tru TV reporter Jean Casarez. She took a phone call from a female viewer who stated, “I have a statement and I have a question. First of all, I think there`s some very sick individuals in the world to want to see Casey Anthony on TV. And Casey was really nobody before the death of her child. So under the circumstances, why would she want to even show her face further on TV?”
Larry Flynt answered the comment, “I explained in the beginning, you know, some time since the verdict, I made no contact with her attorneys, made no formal offer because I thought there would be no interest in seeing her in the magazine.
“But my mind has been changed as I have traveled the country promoting my new book, and people have been coming to up me by the dozens wanting to know why I haven`t made an offer, and when am I going to do it?
“And while there may be a group of people out there who think that she`s guilty of murder, you`ve got men that say, Hey, you know, I want to see her in her birthday suit. So there may be some sick individuals, as the lady said, but that`s what life`s all about.”
Playboy founder “Hugh Hefner” previously spoke with CNN’s Piers Morgan and stated there would be no offers from Playboy to Casey Anthony. Describing his reaction to the case and verdict, Hugh Hefner told Piers Morgan on July 14, 2011, “I find much of the circumstances very suspect. And that obviously is the — the only problem is obviously they didn’t have any forensic or specific evidence. But certainly other people have been convicted on circumstantial evidence. And she certainly looked very, very guilty.
And I don’t think she acted like an innocent person.”
Piers Morgan then asked Hefner if he would make an offer to Casey Anthony. He replied, “There are apparently lots of bids flying in for her story now, for her to sell her story. There was a report that a porn production company, Vivid, had offered her a lot of money and then rescinded it. Would you ever countenance offering a “Playboy” cover to somebody like Casey Anthony?”
Hugh Hefner responded, “It is amazing the number of people that have Tweeted me immediately afterward, asking whether or not we would do a pictorial on her, et cetera. And the answer is simply no. I wouldn’t reward someone like that for what has happened.”
Do you think there would be a backlash to hit Larry Flynt if Casey does decide to pose for Hustler?
