Kingdom Watch at Christian Retreat Bradenton, Florida
A special seminar was introduced to the public on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Hurricane and Disaster Preparedness were given a Kingdom Principal Twist with the presentations of the day centered on Proverbs 1:1-2 “ These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king—Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; A manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality.” Message Bible
“To teach the inexperienced the ropes.” That included a room full of people, eager to hear protocols and procedures on how to fulfill the old Boy Scout maxim, Be Prepared.
David MacDerment demonstrated his proclivity in ‘how to cover your bases.’ He was quoted as saying “Education is a change in behavior due to a newly acquired knowledge.” From a Christian vantage, he illustrated his perspective in three points. Most believers have under-estimated the quantity of evil in the world. Most believers have under-estimated God’s power to change the evil in the world. Most believers have underestimated God’s Willingness to move on their behalf..
Mr. MacDerment proceeded to instruct on Basic Inventory Management. His encouraged us to buy things when on sale, not when we Need them! Buy LED flashlights and put them next to every door. Get glow sticks. Layer your protection. Get a Swiss Army Knife. Make an inventory of what you own. Examine your skill sets and train your children. Family security and self defense is important. The five C’s of Survival are: Cutting Edge, Cover, Container, Combustible and Cordage. Get them, and you are on your way to being prepared.
Richard Lee, Leader of CR “Prepers” and home food grower showed the class how to plant what we need hydroponically. He encouraged all to shop the bargains. Red Barn Flea Market, located on First Street in Bradenton, sells a wide variety of herbs and produce. When purchasing seeds, Lee cautioned, try not to buy hybrids. You want the seed to produce the same thing consistently. He also suggested buying stack-able planters. Shelter and water would be very important in an emergency, and a Burke filter will enable you to clean water from a frog pond or swimming pool, making it safe to drink. He also suggested the attendees begin storing food to survive in a disaster situation.
Jim Pace gave an educational protocol in case of Hurricane. He said our choice was to either be “a victim or be prepared.” The five main points he attuned the group to were: have a family meeting, agree on a safe room in the home, gather your supplies, plan an escape route, and a rendezvous point. He encouraged all to check in with someone off site to leave messages with. Write out your contact information, store important numbers in your cell. Develop a special plan for your pets. Plan on being a good neighbor and bring all outside furniture indoors so things would not get thrown around in hurricane winds.
Rev. Keith Lyndon, Christian financial counselor and Barter professional spoke about the oncoming One World Order. We are the only sovereign nation left. Glen Beck and Rick Joyner were sources for much of his information. He anticipated a time when FEMA would be utilized to supply water. He equated the End Times and the Mark of the Beast with a financial collapse and natural disaster. He reminded the attendees that Nixon took America off the Gold System. There is no gold in Fort Knox. We are to be good stewards of God’s money, and multiply the assets God gave us. He encouraged the group not to borrow money to pay off bills. The workshop also included information on what to do when the currency crashes, and the benefits of bartering. Think Function.
There was a question and answer time, and the instructors gave ample opportunity for people to peruse the display areas. This seminar will be offered again. A two day event is possible for the next offering.
We may read a story Jesus told in Matthew 25:1-12. In a nutshell, ten virgins were waiting for the Bridegroom to come. Five of the group were prepared with oil in their lamp. Five of the group were not prepared and their lamps went out. They ran off to buy more oil, and the Bridegroom arrived while they were gone. They missed out. Foolish Virgins. Un prepared. What will You be?
I will not be a foolish virgin…I will not be foolish virgin…Be Prepared!
