On July 26th “Here I Am” Kelly Rowland’s newest album was released, and that night she celebrated her new release with Moet at the Moet Rose Lounge at the Standard hotel in NYC. Celebrities from Beyonce, Tika Sumpter and executives like Sylvia Rhone, Kevin Liles and Andre Harrell were in attendance. Ms. Rowland was beaming and looked amazing in her long black dress and flawless skin. Also in attendance rapper Big Sean, personalities Terrence J, Angela Yee, Bevy Smith, Janell Snowden, DJ M.O.S and wife DJ Kiss, model Jessica White singers Maxwell and Estelle.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the beautiful Kelly Rowland on her new album, and a possible Destiny Child’s project:
When you recorded “Motivation” did you ever think it would be such a hit?
I knew I loved it, I fell in love with it, and when people fell in love with it as well, I was just happy people love it as much as I did.
Your performance at the BET awards stole the show, was it your intent to take it to that level?
Absolutely, I had so many dreams about performing at the BET awards and I wanted it to be great. So I went out there and had fun, and expressed myself.
How does this new album differ from your previous two albums, “Motivation” is a more sensual song is that the theme of the album too?
This album is definitely more sensual; I didn’t allow myself to be put in a box. People said is this going to be a dance record or an urban record and I said no, I’ma just do what I want to do and that’s what I did.
What were some of the collaborations on the album, and which collaborations didn’t make the album?
I wanted to get Drake but I wasn’t able to. I had this record called “Keep it between us” that he would’ve been amazing on.
Any future plans for a Destiny Child’s album?
Basically me, Beyonce, and Michelle haven’t talked about it. We haven’t had a conversation about it.
What are some of your future plans, modeling, acting?
I would love to do some more acting, when the right script and opportunity comes along I’ll be in it. I can’t wait to do another movie.
