Joseph Littles Nguzo-Saba school in West Palm Beach is an F-rated school and is risking the possibility of being shut down if student academic progress does not improve, according to the Sun Sentinel. This charter school is Palm Beach County’s only school with an African-centered curriculum and is considered one of the state of Florida’s worst schools.
Joseph Littles Nguzo-Saba is on the “intervene” list for poor performance under federal standards. Other schools in Palm Beach County that have improved, but once found themselves on the “intervene” list were Lake Worth High School, JFK Middle and the Crossroads Academy alternative school, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Schools on the “intervene” list, receive extra district and state on-site monitoring, intensive support and professional development academies for employees and a special pool of highly qualified teachers.
Joseph Littles Nguzo-Sabo is a school for students Kindergarten through 8th grade and is said to be an at-risk school due to poverty, behavioral troubles and academic struggles, according to a Sun Sentinel report.
