Grammy winning artist, Joliet region bands and musicians say goodbye to summer 2011 with an abundance of great live shows this weekend!
Thursday major recording artist “Meatloaf” brings his “Hang Cool Tour” to Joliet Memorial Stadium (3000 w Jefferson St) with opening act “7th Heaven” Doors open at 5PM with 7H kicking off at 6PM. General admission tickets are $25.
Friday the annual “Keepataw Days” festival in Lemont kicks off live music on the main stage with sixties tribute band “Joey Midnight and The Fleshtones” at 6:30PM. “ 7thHeaven” hits the stage at 9PM.
Starting at 9PM “Forget Hannah” takes the stage at Hammer’s Sports Bar (2771 Black Road in Joliet) kicking out a few sets of classic rock, pop, alternative, Motown and blues. If you haven’t been out to Hammer’s yet, this is the time to do it. This is a great bar and one of the few places where the kitchen stays open until close. Total Sports (523 Fairway Dr in Naperville) plays host to the Grateful Dead jam band “Paradise Waits” beginning at 9:30PM. Besides the Dead PW also churns outs a few self penned tunes as well.
Saturday the “Keepataw Days” festival in downtown Lemont heads into the second day with “Pioneer” at 3:30PM; Bon Jovi/80’s tribute band “Slippery When Wet” at 6PM and 80’s dance party band “80’s Enough” closing things out at 9PM.
“Your Villain My Hero” headlines a genre busting show with special guests “The Last Envy” and “The Workhorse Kings” at Mojoe’s (22 W Cass St in Joliet) kicking off at 9PM. TLE will be laying down the classic, 90’s and Y2K rock while WHK’s lay down the hard driving original rock. YVMH closes things out with their own dance-oriented pop and rock.
Mugz Hideout (24045 W Front St aka The Big Basin in Channahon) rocks with “Jupiter Sky” opening an evening of classic rock and alternative for “Broken Ego”. The bands start at 8PM out on the deck.
Dance cover band “Good 2 Go” returns to the Limestone Brewery (12337 S Rt. 59 in Plainfield) with their high energy show getting underway at 9:30PM.
“The Band Sundance” performs at Stage 151 in Harrah’s Casino (151 N Joliet St in Joliet) at 9PM.
The stage at Bada Brew (802 Theodore St in Crest Hill) thunders with the sound of metal in a multi-band extravaganza starting up at 8PM. Heavy duty bands “29 Needles”, “Chains Of Tyranny”, “Neurotic” and “Khaos Ordinance” will be tearing the place up for a mere $5 cover.
Sunday “Keepataw Days” in Lemont continues with local legend Bruce Karosa throwing down old school polka commencing at 12 noon. “One Sweet Jane” follows at 3PM with a set of acoustic covers; party rock band “Reckless” fires up at 5:30PM followed by “Infinity” at 8:30PM.
A Joliet tradition continues Sunday night at Kegler’s Sports Bar (905 Theodore St in Crest Hill) with the “Joliet Heritage Blues Jam” at 6:30PM. Host T Bird Huck has been running the jam throughout Joliet for over 20 years now and the JHBJ is one of the best occasions to catch some first class blues.
Labor Day Monday “Keepataw Days” in Lemont features “Five Guys Named Moe” performing classic rock and roll party music. Closing out the live music at 6:30PM is “The Band Sundance” performing dance/rock cover tunes.
