Looking for some live music this weekend? Here’s the skinny on who’s playing where throughout the Joliet and surrounding area this weekend!
Friday night Joe’s Bar (4220 W Jefferson St) in Joliet will be rumbling when “Under D Influence” rocks old school classic hard rock (see previous article on UDI http://exm.nr/koBaJb) starting at 9:30PM. It’s the owners birthday bash and there’s NO COVER so it’s definitely going to be a party.
If kicking it on the dance floor is more of what you’re looking for then head over to “Stage 151” at Joliet’s Harrah’s Casino (151 N Joliet St) for the return of “Libido Funk Circus” at 9PM. LFC is one of the more popular bands in regular rotation at Harrah’s so make this the weekend to discover why!
The female fronted “Prodigal Son” will be hammering the stage at Bada Brew (802 Theodore St in Crest Hill) with classic rock and alternative. Opening the show is “Three Ball Charlie” firing up at 9:30PM.
Saturday Carters Place (13 W 9thSt in Lockport) welcomes in the female fronted “MindShatter” starting at 9PM. MS leans heavily toward the alternative/acoustic rock side, performing a mix of predominantly originals with a handful of covers.
St. Josephs Parish Park (1500 N Raynor in Joliet) is the “Linda Lopez Cancer Benefit” beginning noon Saturday. The event, being held to offset the expenses for Linda’s treatment, is $10 and besides raffles, 50/50 and prizes also includes music by 90’s tribute band “Flanl” rocking covers by artist like Nirvana, STP and Matchbox 20, the “Bobby Mutz Band” supplying your favorite polka, waltz and country classics, Dan “Spiderman” Mitchell, the veritable bluesman/showman “T-Bird” Huck will be working their mojo and “Chasing Amy”, fronted by guest star Angel Birr stomps out classic to current hard rock and pop. Besides the obvious that this is a really great cause, you are getting a day of great music. Food and drink will also be available and the event is taking place rain or shine.
Heading into Sunday is the “3rdAnnual Wounded Warrior Project Motorcycle Run & Concert” kicking off at 10AM at the Municipal Center at 1 Veteran’s Parkway in New Lenox. Bikes for the run begin at 10AM along with a pancake breakfast; a police escorted run heads out at noon. The concert starts after the run and features country rock courtesy of “Six Wheels South”, “Superfly Redneck” jamming the hard and southern rock and the ever popular “5 Guys Named Moe” with their eclectic mix of rock, pop and everything in between. Cost per person for the event is $15 and well worth every penny.
Meanwhile out at Mugz Hideout (AKA The Big Basin 24045 Front St in Channahon) Jimmy Goodtimes and his band “The Fun Guise” rock a few sets of the Grateful Dead starting at 2PM out on the deck. Mugz is still one of the area’s best-kept secrets so take the opportunity to check out both the band and the bar.
Lots of great music, rock, country, blues, alternative, dance, a couple of rockin’ charity events, …it’s all in J-Town this weekend so head on out and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIVE MUSIC SCENE!
