Whether you’re looking for your favorite cover band or want to discover new original talent, the Joliet area is the place to be this weekend!
TONIGHT Mojoes (22 w Cass St) will be rocking with the “Workhorse Kings” along with special guest “Mason Avenue” and John Condrone of “John Condrone and the Benefit” starting at 9PM. If you’re looking for some fresh hard driving original music then this is definitely where you’ll want to be.
Friday night the genre busting 90’s band “Recycle The Day” hits the stage at Heroes West (1530 Commerce Dr) beginning at 9:30PM. RTD takes it all on whether it’s rock, pop, hip-hop, country and more. Heroes also happens to be an awesome venue so if you’ve never been there, especially to catch a band, then this is the night to support not only a local venue but live music as well.
Zelmos Full Moon Saloon (1117 Plainfield Rd) is rocking hard all weekend beginning Friday night when “Broken Ego” and “Jupiter Sky” tear the place up starting at 9PM.
Meanwhile at Bada Brew (802 Theodore St) “Deep Fried Frankie” brings a dose of rock and soul to the BB stage beginning at 9PM.
Saturday in nearby Coal City an all-day concert at the Campbell Park gazebo will showcase music from all eras of music from the 1930’s through today. Kicking off at 2PM will be “The Jay Mau Orchestra” performing music from the 30’s and 40’s. Covering the music of the 50’s and 60’s will be the “Lincoln Hot Rods” at 4PM. The 70’s and 80’s will be the focus of “Boogie Shoes” starting at 6PM. Closing out the event at 8PM will be “Pet Cemetery” handling the 90’s through present day. Best of all the event is free!
A benefit event for Dennis Tennant will be held at the Joliet Moose Lodge (25 Springfield Ave) commencing at 4PM. Two bands will be performing with “Hillbilly Rickshaw” at 7PM and the band “WTF” at 9PM. Admittance is $20 for adults, $10 for kids 6-10 and free to kids under 5. Proceeds go to a great cause.
Bada Brew presents an evening of metal with “Skull King” and “Faith In The Fallen” firing up at 9PM. The Brew is always a great venue to catch the heavier bands and Saturday night is no exception.
If you’re in the mood for a little rock & soul music, then head over to Bobby McGee’s Good Times Pub (1200 Cedarwood Dr Crest Hill) and catch “Deep Fried Frankie” firing up at 9:30PM.
In nearby Bolingbrook “CoverGurl” headlines a show at Tailgaters (431W Boughton Rd) with special guest “The Fortunate Sons” at 9PM. FS is a Creedence Clearwater tribute band while CG will be banging out the party rock.
Finally Saturday night Zelmos Full Moon Saloon will get hammered when “Chasing Amy” headlines with special guest “Mason Avenue”. MA has been on a red-hot streak throughout the area and continues to build their fan base, check out my previous article on the band. Chasing Amy meanwhile is debuting their new lead singer Tracy Lindi as well as some new tunes. Tracy is a great performer with a pair of solo CD’s under her belt and the band is anxious to show her off to the hometown crowd. The evening gets under way starting at 9PM.
Heading into Sunday the Frankfort Farmers Market (at Oak and Kansas Sts) will be rollicking with the “Heartland Bluegrass Band” hitting the stage at 12 noon. These folks are the real deal so come on down and commence to jigglin’!
