Join the Dumb Friends League of Denver at Wag ‘n Trail 2011, a 1.6-mile hike for people and their dogs takes place Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Glendale Farm Open Space north of Castle Rock. This seventh annual fundraiser benefits the League’s BuddyCenter.
“The Wag ‘n Trail is a great way to spend the day with your dog and help support the BuddyCenterin Castle Rock,” said Bob Rohde, Dumb Friends League president and CEO.
Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn prizes. At the $75 level, you receive a limited-edition Wag `n Trail logo long-sleeved T-shirt, ice cream for you and your dog, and a photo of you and your dog on the trail.
Following the hike, animal lovers can enjoy demonstrations from Ruff Flyball, great food and refreshments, as well as purchase pet-related merchandise from vendors. There is a five-acre off-leash park located near the trailhead.
The Buddy Center provides shelter and care for more than 5,000 homeless pets each year. In addition to adopting homeless pets, the center also offers other programs and services, including lost and found, behavior training, humane education and animal cruelty investigations.
