Atlanta’s glitterati turned out in droves Monday night to celebrate fashion and philanthropy at the 19th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares, benefitting the Susan G Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta AIDS Fund. While helping your fellow man may have been reason enough for donning your favorite cocktail dress and heading to 12th & Midtown, the lure of fall fashion ensured the house was packed.
With clothes that live up to his immense reputation, Jason Wu brought austere elegance to the Fashion Cares runway as the special guest designer for a second time in three years. The pieces from his fall 2011 collection inspired by a Robert Polidori book on the 25 year restoration of Versailles fit in perfectly with looks by Lanvin, Yves St Laurent, Alexander Wang and more. Wu’s signature polished, ladylike look in some ways embodied the southern charm underlying the sartorial choices of Atlanta’s best dressed. While refinement and grace made their presence known on the runway, color, texture, and sharp tailoring added a youthful edge to models and guests alike.
Between the cocktails, live auction, admirable causes, and a fashion show that provides the perfect warm up for New York Fashion Week, the 19th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares has proved once again why Atlantans look forward to this event year after year.
