This being summer, you might think school’s out at Berkeley’s Jazzschool. In reality, the EastBayinstitution takes advantage of the summer months to present top-flight young talent as part of its Rising Stars! series.
The concerts get under way Friday and run through the end of August. Performances are held at Jazzschool, 2087 Addison St., and admission is a bargain at $10-$15.
The exceptions are the three shows that comprise the series the school produces with the Downtown Berkeley Association. These concerts are free and run from noon-1 p.m. at the BART plaza at Shattuck and Center. Here’s a rundown on all the great, young jazz artists you can catch (for a song) this summer in Berkeley.
