The most current operating system for your iPad is version 4.3.5, and is now available for downloading. If you haven’t synced (sunk?) your iPad in a while, this might be a good time to “catch up.”
Keeping your iPad updated with the most recent operating software can help prevent glitches in apps you are running, and also help prevent your iPad from crashing. (If iPad 2 software is similar to the iPhone’s, not updating your software can mean hours of time spent loading missing software if you don’t sync and update.)
To check which software you currently have on iPad 2:
1. tap Settings on your iPad desktop
2. tap General in the left side bar
3. Read – Version – line 7 – this will show you which operating system you are using
To update the Operating System on iPad 2 to version 4.3.5:
1. use the sync wire to connect iPad 2 to your computer
2. open iTunes on your computer if it doesn’t automatically go into iTunes sync mode; once in iTunes, look in the left side bar, under Devices; find and click your iPad
Follow the prompts to download the OS software onto your computer, and wait.
When the download is complete, your iPad screen will turn black and have a white “Apple” icon with a bar underneath showing how much time is left to complete the OS update.
This will correspond with messages and similar bars on your computer screen. iPad 2 will then read “Sync in Progress” at the top of the screen.
Follow the prompt on the computer; type your password, and then wait for the sync to finish before using any other apps.
