INXS outperformed any fan’s hopes of how good a live performance by the band could ever be last night at Ogden Theater. A group that has been rocking for over 30 years might know a thing or two about performing, but being able to bring together and entertain different generations with the same material is nothing short of incredible.
Performing both their old and new stuff including some of the remixes off of their latest album, Original Sin (2010) with JD Fortune as lead singer, there was sure to be something in their act for everyone. From captivating the audience with hits such as “New Sensation,” “What You Need,” “Pretty Vegas,” and “Need You Tonight” to bringing the set to an end with the powerful, heart jerking ballad “Never Tear Us Apart,” what more could any INXS fan ask for?
Fans that haven’t seen the band perform before or since Michael Hutchence’s untimely death in November, 1997 might not know what to expect from a group who has suffered such a terrible loss. But let me assure you, although Michael could never be replaced, the band is still exuding what INXS has always been about – and they do it in such a way that Michael’s presence can still be felt. What an amazing way to keep his memory and talent alive.
