I interviewed Dr. Mirdad to find out more about what he will be sharing with us. Here’s what he said:
What is your workshop “You’re Not Going Crazy…You’re Just Waking Up!” about?
It’s about how to rebuild your life after it has fallen apart. When I say, “falling apart,” it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to completely fall apart. I mean any falling apart whether it’s minor (like you lost a personal possession) or major (like you lost your intimate partner or job).
We all need to learn to discover why these things are happening to us. Beneath it all, it’s about healing we need to complete OR lessons we think we need to learn. Besides looking at the inner causes, we also need to learn how to go through these changes with the highest consciousness possible. Lastly, we also need to figure out what direction to go, once we begin to complete any of our life’s transitions. Some people go right back to the same old thing that got them into trouble in the first place. And then they have to have their lives dismantled all over again. Instead, we can learn to connect to Spirit in a new way and allow higher guidance to direct us toward a better life. In the end, it’s all about Rebuilding a new life and no longer having to revisit the same old patterns as before.
Can you elaborate on the Soul-Level Healing Process that results in our ‘Waking Up!’?
There are five stages to the Soul Transformation Process. The first stage is Dismantling, which is whenever something changes in your life. It could be a loss or a betrayal or even a change in any of your life’s circumstances. After that, the second stage is Emptiness, which is the common or natural effect of having experienced a loss or change. Basically it’s like you’ve been punched in the gut. You’re in the aftermath of having lost something and you now feel empty, sad, or perhaps depressed—all of which feels like it might last forever but will eventually blow over and lead us to the next stage in the Soul Transformation Process. The third stage is Disorientation. This is where we often say, “Oh my God, where do I go from here?”
Disorientation is the most crucial stage because it is where the choice is made to either step over the bridge into stages four and five, OR like most people, we can try to fix our issues on our own which results in going through the same three stages over and over again. Some people say, “I’m an intelligent person. I can figure this out myself.” But that’s not what gets you over the bridge. What assists you in moving forward and into stages four and five is surrendering your life, your crisis, and your soul to Spirit—to Divine Guidance. We must learn to remain still and practice trusting and praying for guidance to take the next step. Then wait patiently for the doors to open.
The fourth stage in the Soul Transformation Process is Rebuilding, which naturally leads to the fifth stage, which is A New Life. Again, these last two stages cannot be done on our own. They can only be done by learning concepts such as humility, surrender, and vulnerability, as well as working in cooperation with Spirit.
What is your workshop “Enhance Intimacy in Relationships” about?
It’s about learning how to be present and intimate with ourselves and others. I’m considered by many to be one of the world’s primary teachers on relationships as well as Tantra. When I use the word Tantra, I’m not talking about the extremes of religious Tantra on the one hand and hyper-sexuality on the other. I teach Middle Path Tantra. That’s a spiritual Tantra that uses integrity, love, and respect to learn how to be more in touch with our own bodies, as well as how to be better intimate partners.
What do you see missing in people’s intimate relationships?
There are two things—one is internal and the other is external.
Internally speaking, when people are not in touch with who they are, they cannot be in healthy relationships. So our first responsibility is to create a healthy internal life, which means having a healthy spiritual life and a healthy relationship with oneself. If we don’t have that intact, how can we possibly bring it to others?
Externally speaking, when we are healthy enough inside, this will naturally bubble up and flow over into a healthy external life in the form of an honest, loving, and affectionate life and/or relationships. This would, of course, also mean healthy communication.
Also, for those looking for the magic key to creating better and healthier intimacy, no matter how many books you read on sexual techniques, none of them are worth anything compared to just “slowing down.” Men and women would most benefit in their intimate interactions from slowing down. Slow down and feel everything—from the most subtle kiss to your love-making movements. Everybody has seen movies with hyper sex, the man ripping the woman’s clothes off and so on. But those scenes never seem to end with the man dressing her afterwards. That’s because this is only people experiencing the heat of infatuation, which doesn’t usually include love and respect. It’s entertaining to our ego-based eyes but it is not Tantric. It is not deep spiritually, psychologically, or emotionally. It is nothing but an addictive behavior called stimulation.
Slowing down may seem boring to an addict of stimulation. But when you try it, you will feel things you never could have imagined. So the next time you are making love to your partner, slow down, look into their eyes, and concentrate on every sensation. Some couples who have tried this say to me, “Michael we tried it and it’s amazing! We are exploding with love and passion for each other.” Try it, you’ll like it!
