Harvest Chapel in Venice, Florida has been host to many different speakers and musicians. There is one prophetic singer-evangelist to whom Harvest has become a part of his annual itinerary.
Larry Orrell, from the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan, has come to minister in song, prayer and the prophetic anointing. His wife Ruth accompanied him on this trip south. A visit to his daughter on the East Coast was a fringe benefit to this Ministry on the Road.
Don Butler of the Gospel Music Association, has commented about Larry, “He has an international ministry and is much in demand.” Larry ‘s gospel roots go back to his boyhood. In the late 60’s , he sang and traveled with The Orrells, which included songwriter Gordon Jensen, Billy Blackwood, Mark Chadwell, and Steve Speer and Ron Fairchild. The Gaithers, the Happy Goodmans and Kathryn Kulman figured into his development . He has been a board member for five consecutive terms at the Gospel Music Association.
Pastor Enloe introduced Larry in the morning service. Larry began by singing Bless the Lord, Oh My Soul. He then illustrated his time to minister with a few stories. In one of the churches he ministered at in Sicily, two known Mafia members gave their hearts to the Lord. One of the national police, a Carboneri, came to him and said he was tired of being phoney and wanted to be a true worshiper. He let us know that “If it concerns you, it concerns your Father.”
Not only does Larry travel throughout America, he also has a call to Italy and Switzerland, where he ministers twice a year. Currently, he is developing a Bible School to open in Italy. Both Larry and Ruth have a special heart for Sicily. On an individual note, he desires to have people experience a personal touch from God, receive healing in their bodies, and know that His Presence is real. Larry is a Worshiper. Larry moves in the office of a prophet. When Larry sings, the air becomes thick with the atmosphere of Heaven. He sings the old songs that many grew up with. He sings in English and Italian. He sings and the spirits of the listeners open to hear the heart of God.
Pastor Phil Enloe and his wife Jan have been friends of the Orrells for years. When they started the church, it met in a small facility. As the church grew, they needed a bigger facility. The perfect solution presented itself with the Seventh Day Adventist body meeting on Saturdays. Their building was available for services on Sundays. I am sure God smiled as both days are celebrated and he is worshiped from both denominations.
We are looking forward to the next time Harvest Chapel hosts Larry Orrell, prophet, worshiper, evangelist. Dio La benedice Larry e Ruth…e può gioia di teh del Dio sia la Sua forza!
