A great deal of innovation has been on-hand at Tech Week, hosted at the Merchandise Mart. The event has showcased advancements in Technology, specifically with social media and its impact on untapped markets.
Enter the app Forecast,* that gives users opportunities to plan impromptu gatherings with friends from attending movies, meeting up at a local coffee house, to connecting for a fantastic party.
“There’s just one thing you do with Forecast, and that’s make your own forecast, which is a check-in with a future time associated with it. You select the location you’re going and the time that you’ll be there. You will have the ability to add a button [to input details of the event], and you can also post it to Twitter.
“All your friends will know where you’ll be later. That’s pretty much the beginning, middle and end. It’s a very simple app,” says Forecast co-designer and Hurricane Party CEO René Pinnell.
Formed in May of 2010 in Austin, TX, Hurricane Party was one of only five companies selected from a pool of several hundred for Capital Factory’s prestigious seed incubator program. After being in the AppStore for just a week, Apple featured Hurricane Party in What’s Hot in social networking.
