Hollowhenge Scavenger is one of the latest Magic: the Gathering cards to be spoiled from Wizards of the Coast’s upcoming expert expansion set Innistrad.
Hollowhenge Scavenger – 3GG
Creature – Elemental (Uncommon)
Morbid – When Hollowhenge Scavenger enters the battlefield, if a creature died this turn, you gain 5 life.
After werewolves slaughtered the citizenry of Hollowhenge, other creatures moved in.
Hollowhenge Scavenger introduces us to one of Innistrad‘s newest mechanics: Morbid.
While many will play Innistrad‘s Hollowhenge Scavenger after using a removal spell like Geth’s Verdict or Go for the Throat, it is important to note that there are many other Magic cards like Birthing Pod and Culling Dais that will let you sacrifice your own creature so that Hollowhenge Scavenger’s Morbid ability will trigger.
Five for a 4/5 might not be the most exciting creature we’ve ever seen, however it’s Morbid ability will help other cards that have “whenever you gain life” triggered abilities such as Ajani’s Pridemate, Ageless Entity, and Searing Meditation (which all happen to be included in the Ajani decklist)
How will you use Innistrad‘s Nightfall Predator?
Innistrad contains 264 cards, and will be released on September 30, 2011. Innistrad will be followed by Dark Ascension.
Innistrad Prerelease events will occur on September 24-25, 2011, there will be Innistrad Launch Parties on September 30-October 3, 2011, and Innistrad will be released on Magic Online October 17, 2011. The Innistrad Game Day will be on October 29-30, 2011.
