Hinterland Harbor is one of the latest Magic: the Gathering cards to be previewed from Wizards of the Coast’s upcoming expert expansion set Innistrad.
Hinterland Harbor enters the battlefield tapped unless you control a Forest or an Island.
Tap: Add G or U to your mana pool.
In places where the sea meets the trees, it’s easy to forget the darkness that rules most of Innistrad.
Innistrad‘s Hinterland Harbor joins Clifftop Retreat, Isolated Chapel, Sulfur Falls, and Woodland Cemetery as part of a new five card enemy land cycle.
Like the “M10” lands (Dragonskull Summit, Drowned Catacomb, Glacial Fortress, Rootbound Crag, and Sunpetal Grove), the drawback on Hinterland Harbor is negligible. In a two colored deck with plenty of basic lands, Hinterland Harbor will enter the battlefield untapped the vast majority of the time without causing any damage like Yavimaya Coast, and isn’t as slow as Skyshroud Forest.
Thanks to Hinterland Harbor and the other four enemy lands in Innistrad, Standard players will be able to optimize their mana bases and build multicolored decks easier. While Hinterland Harbor might pail in comparison to Tropical Island, it makes a worthy addition to any Modern deck running Breeding Pool and Misty Rainforest.
Several other Innistrad spoilers include Civilized Scholar, Moonmist, Diregaf Ghoul, Curse of the Bloody Tome, Daybreak Ranger, Ludevic’s Test Subject, Bloodgift Demon, and Elite Inquisitor.
Innistrad contains 264 cards, and will be released on September 30, 2011. Innistrad will be followed by Dark Ascension.
Innistrad Prerelease events will occur on September 24-25, 2011, there will be Innistrad Launch Parties on September 30-October 3, 2011, and Innistrad will be released on Magic Online October 17, 2011. The Innistrad Game Day will be on October 29-30, 2011.
