Denny Hamlin qualified the #11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry 14th for Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but will have to start at the back of the pack after blowing an engine in practice. Hamlin was the fastest Joe Gibbs Racing driver on the Saturday, with a fast lap of 181.892 mph.
Joey Logano will now be the highest-starting JGR driver on the grid. He qualified the #20 Home Depot Toyota 20th in the field with a quick lap of 181.422 mph. The third Joe Gibbs Racing team, the #18 M&Ms Toyota of Kyle Busch, qualified 29th with a fast lap of 180.854 mph.
David Ragan earned the pole with a speed of 182.994 mph.
Qualifying efforts were definitely better at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for the Nationwide Series Kroger 200. Brian Scott will start sixth in the #11 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry after a quick lap of 107.570 mph. Teammates for the weekend Michael McDowell and Drew Herring will start ninth and 15th, respectively; McDowell put down a lap of 107.160 mph, while Herring qualified with a fast lap of 106.812 mph.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has the pole for the Nationwide race with a speed of 108.278 mph.
