Indian captain MS Dhoni has won the toss and chose to bat first in the only T20 international match being played at Old Trafford on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
England captain Stuart Broad has confirmed that Hales and Buttler will make their debuts, while Rahane is making his debut alongside Dravid for India.
Parthiv Patel, Munaf Patel and Vinay Kumar are in the side too, and R Ashwin is the only specialist spinner in the Indian squad. The Indian line-up looks like it is carrying at least two batsmen more than they might need, but given how they have batted so far on this tour, you never know.
After losing the Test series by 4-0, India won the three practice game and their players are now confident and also are in top form.
STAR Cricket TV channel will telecast the match live in India and other Asian countries.
The final squads are announced and are as below:
India : MS Dhoni, P Kumar, R Ashwin, R Vinay Kumar, MM Patel, PA Patel, AM Rahane, R Dravid, V Kohli, RG Sharma, SK Raina.
England : KP Pietersen, EJG Morgan, RS Bopara, SR Patel, JC Buttler, TT Bresnan, AD Hales, C Kieswetter, SCJ Broad*, GP Swann, JW Dernbach.
We will post the highlights here after the game is over.
