Such as Wegmans, Topps and Hegedorns of Webster. Also let’s not forget the Farmer’s Markets, from local townships around Rochester. They also carry many varieties of produce that are inexpensive.
Today for your dining pleasure, If you can read you can cook would like to bring you a tasty delicious green bean dish know as Green beans Catalina. So if you’re ready let’s cook.
Here is the list of supplies you will need:
- Measuring spoons and measuring cups
- A small microwavable casserole dish with lid
- A small sauce pan
- A sharp knife and cutting board
- A colander
Here is the list of ingredients you will need:
- 2 eggs hardboiled
- 2 cups of fresh green beans or frozen French cut green beans
- 2 tablespoons of real bacon bits with 50% less fat. Hormel usually makes the less fat brand and it can usually be found on the salad fixings isle in the supermarkets.
- 2 tablespoons of fat free Kraft Catalina dressing
To start place 2 eggs in a small sauce pan, fill with water, and bring to a boil. When the water starts to boil cook for 15 minutes. Then soak the eggs in cold water till you are ready to peel. Next place your green beans in your colander and rinse. Shake off excess water. Now cut green beans into 1 inch segments and place in your casserole dish. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water. Place your lid on the dish and microwave your green beans for 8 minutes. Next check beans for tenderness. If you beans are not tender than cook for 1 minute more and check to see if they are done. If still not done keep cooking till they are tender. As your beans are cooking, now would be a good time to peel and chop your eggs. You can chop your eggs in medium size hunks. When the beans are done cooking add your eggs, bacon bits and Catalina dressing. Stir till thoroughly mixed. Place dish back in microwave and cook at 1 minute intervals till all ingredients are heated through. Once all ingredients are heated, remove from the microwave and serve with your main dish. One main dish that goes great with this dish is breaded baked pork chops and stuffing.
