In her vitriolic ascent up the east coast, Hurricane Irene has found her way to Baltimore, Maryland. Though not nearly as volatile as areas such as Ocean City in Maryland and Cape Hatteras in North Carolina (both which were evacuated), the downpour and winds of the storm are expected to continue their assault until tomorrow afternoon.
The threat of the storm would be enough to confine residents to their homes and—save for those with power outages—many found themselves biding the time with television, texting, Facebook status updating (i.e., “This hurricane is going to blow…literally), tweeting (one clever Baltimore resident tweeted “Don’t come on Irene #yousuckalready”) and general surfing of the net. For those who are avid fans of Reddit, a certain link appropriately placed in the WTF?! section may have caused a double take. Is Hurricane Irene looking for love?
Body type: Curvy
The popular and cost-free dating site OkCupid recently acquired a new member and her name is Irene. The profile describes Irene as a straight 18 year old female from New York, New York with a curvy body type, love for cats but dislike of children, and a diet of “mostly anything”. Also included in Irene’s basic stats is an education that consists of having “dropped out of space camp”, a job in hospitality/travel and an aversion to cigarette smoking but enjoyer of drinking in social situations.
She’s not a fan of conservatives
Staunch Republicans may want to bypass Hurricane Irene’s profile on their quest for love. According to her profile, Irene spends a lot of time thinking about if it is possible for her to, “pick up a shark from the ocean and hurl it at Michele Bachmann.” The mention of a shark was clearly aroused from the photo of a shark swimming down a Puerto Rican street flooded by Hurricane Irene, which—to the dismay of shark fans and individuals who enjoy awesomeness in general—turned out to be the product of Photoshop.
The fabricated dating profile for Hurricane Irene offers a respite from the stress of the storm. In all seriousness, however, individuals in the storm’s path should take all precautions and remain safe as Irene finishes her trek.
