Pamlico County, North Carolina – The Animal Rescue Team of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and the Hello Bully organization have arrived in North Carolina providing emergency assistance to the animals along the North Carolina coastline hardest hit by Hurricane Irene.
An emergency shelter has been set up at the Craven County Fair Grounds for rescued animals, those who were evacuated and had no place to keep their pets, and for first responders who have volunteered to help.
The HSUS has also been providing aid to animals in Vermont and providing help to evacuated families in conjunction with the Red Cross and National Guard.
Pet Smart Charities are providing food and supplies.
