How Weight Watchers meetings work, and how much does Weight Watchers cost?

by jolt left

Every week, several hundred thousand people attend meetings at Weight Watchers in hope that it will help with weight loss, and for most people that attend meetings lose more weight than those who do not, according to Weight Watchers.

The thirty minute meetings are filled with information about how to use the Weight Watchers points, motivation and personal struggles with losing weight. Weight Watchers says that people who regularly attend meetings lose more weight and keep it off.

Typically, a Weight Watchers meeting begins with any comments, questions or concerns from members and then the instructor covers a specific topic for that week. Topics may cover cooking tips, or how to handle eating during a vacation, or eating out. Members do most of the talking during meetings, and give support to each other. Many members find support friends, or work out buddies at meetings. Meetings end with a total amount lost that week for the people in the room, and then special awards or stickers are given out for people who lose 5 lbs., or 5% – 10% of their body weight, etc. It doesn’t sound like much, but getting a star to put on your weigh in card really does motivate members.

The cost for attending the meetings varies depending on which plan you choose, and when you sign up. You can choose to only attend meetings and weigh in each week for around $10-12 a week, or you may chose the online version only, or a combination of both for around $40 a month.
