The Navajo trend was very popular in Fall 2010 and has leaked it’s way into our summer wardrobes as well. The Navajo tribe is the largest in the United States with a sprawling 300,048 registered members. Many of the trends we are wearing this season were inspired by this very group of people. Where do you think those feathers came from that you are rocking on your earrings and in your hair? Understanble enough not everybody is a huge fan of prints and patterns but there are some simple ways of injecting the Navajo trend into your everyday wardrobe.
This can’t be emphasized enough. The best way to slowy work a trend into your wardrobe is by accessorizing. There are some great Navajo inspired jewelry, handbags and even shoes on the market.
Editing your wardrobe and your outfit is very important before heading out in the morning. Never wear an outfit that is overly saturated with one trend. Choose a standout piece and build your outfit around it. For instance, lets say that you have a great Navajo inspired tank, you can pair it with some great cutoff shorts and sandals and you’re on your way. If you do decide to wear more than one piece make sure that they compliment eachother rather than compete for attention. You don’t want to wear huge feather earrings with a feather hairpiece.
A great location to find Navajo inspired pieces in Houston is Rice Village. With it’s numerous amounts of small boutiques and well known stores like Urban Outfitters you can’t miss.
Fashion is about self expression and discovery. Never be afraid to play with different trends, all you have to do is edit down to your own personal taste. Check out the slideshow for some great inspiration.
