Olympia Health Food Center carries a complete line of homeopathy remedies for people and, of course, pets. Homeopathic remedies are not species-specific and can be used on people, dogs, bunnies, parakeets, fish – any living being.
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of healing discovered over 200 years ago by German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Homeopathy has its own method of diagnosing and its own special remedies, effective for both acute and chronic diseases with no harmful side effects. Homeopathics are made from minute amounts of all-natural substances from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), homeopathy is the second largest medical system for primary health care in the world. In Europe, over 100 million people use it on a regular basis. In America in the early 1900s, the most prestigious medical schools in the country were homeopathic. These medical schools converted to allopathic medicine as fast-acting synthetic drugs were developed, the potential dangers and side effects of the new pharmaceuticals being as-of-yet unknown.
Newton Homeopathics was established in 1987 and is located in Conyers, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. Newton Homeopathics is an FDA registered pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and prepares all of its remedies in strict accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS). All of their complexes and single remedies are made by hand, gluten-free, and use the highest quality wild-grown, organic herbs and medicinal substances. Newton Homeopathics is a member of the Natural Products Association, the American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists and the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association.
Olympia Health Food Center carries a very nice selection of Newton’s homeopathics for pets, although the Newton’s homeopathic remedies for people would of course work just fine. I have used the Newton’s pet formulation for Motion Sickness on a head tilt (dizzy) bunny as well as on a bunny with an upset tummy, and owing to the combination of ingredients, the same formulation yielded positive results in both pets.
With the homeopathic remedies, you need only a few drops per dose, and these can be put on a treat, rubbed on the inside of the ear or mixed with water and squirted into their mouth with a syringe.
Perhaps best of all, there are no problems with negative interactions with medications prescribed by your veterinarian. Homeopathic remedies can safely be used with whatever medications your veterinarian prescribes for your pet.
