FAIRFIELD, Ohio (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) — In an exclusive interview on tonight’s episode of the Nancy Grace Show on HLN, Grace will speak with the fiancé of missing 22-year-old Katelyn Markham, John Carter.
Katelyn was last seen by Carter between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on August 13 when he says he left her Fairfield, Ohio townhouse. He said he received a text message from her phone containing a photo of herself at 12:52 a.m. She’s not been seen or heard from since. Police say her phone was turned off at around 12:45 a.m.
Carter said Katelyn liked sending him pictures all the time so the message did not seem odd to him. He said she had also sent him a series of regular text messages after he left her townhouse that night asking him to burn some documents for her.
The following day, August 14, Carter went to Katelyn’s home and found her car outside, her purse and keys inside the townhouse, and her cell phone missing. Her dog was locked in the bedroom which he said was unusual. Other than that, Carter said the townhouse looked like it had when he left the night before. He called 911 at around 8 p.m.
Katelyn and Carter had been together for six years and planned to marry after they turned 25. Carter proposed to Katelyn on her 22nd birthday. She turned 23 just days after she went missing.
The interview airs on HLN Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. ET. Click here for more details on Nancy Grace’s blog.
