Finding the perfect hotel for a holiday can make the trip a success or an utter failure. A hotel can be so much more than a place to sleep, it can serve as the perfect base of operations from which to experience a city. For me, finding the ultimate hotel, in the right part of town, with access to the sights I’m interested in, is paramount. In Madrid, Room Mate Óscar is that hotel.
With a mere 75 rooms and a roof-top pool with city views and a hip vibe, this is one fun place to stay. Its’ location in the Chueca District next to Gran Vía and a short walk to the historic Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and the world-class museums is ideal. Breakfast is included with the room and is served until 12:00 each day. It is close to the subway, which can be the most efficient and easy way to get around the city and see the main sights.
Room Mate Hotels is a Spanish hotel chain founded in 2001. Its philosophy is based on the belief that the best way to travel is by visiting friends in each city, whose lifestyle we share and who share their knowledge and experiences of the city as they guide us through it. Each of the hotels takes on the characteristics of it’s host with guests treated as roommates or houseguests. In this case, Óscar is an actor and described as Cosmopolitan, Nocturnal, Modern, and Friendly. It is only fitting that the hotel that bears his name is dramatic, fun and hip.
