Jeremy Hermida’s days in Cincinnati were short lived and he will now play for the San Diego Padres.
Hermida was signed this offseason to come off the bench, but was the odd man out as the Reds chose to go with Jonny Gomes (now in Washington), Fred Lewis and Chris Heisey to start the season.
He would stay in Louisville once again as Yonder Alonso and Dave Sappelt were called up throughout the season. Hermida hit .111 with one home run in 10 games this season for the Reds.
In Louisville, Hermida was successful hitting .317 with 17 homers and 55 RBI which drew the attention of Padres. GM Jed Hoyer said he would like to try Hermida out in September to see if he could be a part of San Diego’s outfield in 2012.
