Busch Gardens previously released information on its Howl-O-Scream six haunted houses, with Universal following suit for Halloween Horror Nights last night, after weeks of teasing. Amazingly, both events have Edgar Allan Poe-themed houses this year. Even more coincidentally, both houses are named Nevermore.
The odd similarities don’t stop there. This year, Halloween Horror Nights is all about gambling, games of chance, and luck. Indeed, its icon is Lady Luck, a sinister character who is a lot more than what she seems. Over at Howl-O-Scream, one of the houses is Vampire Casino, which Busch describes as, “Fanged fiends invite you to test your luck in this sultry hangout straight from Sin City.”
On the flipside, Howl-O-Scream’s theme this year is the Dark Side of the Garden, where zombies lurk to terrorize guests. Meanwhile, over in Orlando, one of the Halloween Horror Nights scare zones is Grown Evil, all about…you guessed it…an evil garden. From the description, it sounds like you have to watch out for the plants themselves rather than zombies.
I always recommend going to both events if at all possible. Even with identically named houses and other similar themes, Universal and Busch will put their own unique stamps on the houses and scare zones. If you can only do one event, click here for my hints on how to choose.
