Gwinnett closed out their four game homestand with a 4-3 loss in extra innings to the Indianapolis Indians Tuesday at Coolray Field. The loss drops the G-Braves (61-49) a full game back of the Durham Bulls (61-47) in the race for the International League South title. Durham put up 18 runs in their game against the Charlotte Knights including 7 in one inning. By the end of the 4th inning barrage Durham held a 14-0 lead and won 18-3. The win keeps Indianapolis (58-54) in third place in the IL West.
GAME RECAP:
The game was scoreless going into the home half of the 4th inning when Gwinnett scored a single run to go up 1-0 after four innings. The Indians came back in the top of the 5th with a pair of runs and the 2-1 score held until the 8th inning when both teams plated a run. Gwinnett mounted a comeback in the bottom of the 9th to tie the score at 3 and force extra innings but Indianapolis regained the lead in the top of the 10th inning by a run and held Gwinnett scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win.

G-BRAVES PITCHING:
RHP Todd Redmond (ND, 7-8, 3.00 ERA) started and went 7.0 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs (both earned). He struck out 7 while only issuing a single base on balls. Redmond has only allowed 2 runs or less in each of his last four starts; RHP Jaye Chapman (ND, 1-1, 2.27 ERA with 1 Save) came on in the 8th and gave up a run (earned) on1 hit while walking 2 and striking out 2; RHP Jairo Asencio (L, 2-2, 1.49 ERA and 19 Saves) took the loss pitching 2.0 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run (earned) and walked 2 batters while striking out 1.
G-BRAVES HITTING:
After rocking Indians pitching for the last two games the G-Braves were held to 6 hits in this one. LF Wilkin Ramirez (.272, 7 HRs/28 RBI) was the only batter with a multi-hit game going 2-for-5 with a double and scored a run as well as driving in one; 1B Mauro Gomez (.286, 18 HRs/67 RBI) was 1-for-4 with his 67th RBI of the year and also reached base on a walk; veteran C Wil Nieves (.364, 0 HRs/0 RBI) reached base three times going 1-for-2 with 2 walks.

ROSTER MOVES:
RHP Randall Delgado was promoted to Gwinnett from Double-A Mississippi prior to Tuesday’s game and will join the G-Braves rotation; IF Diory Hernandez is back with Gwinnett after being slated for reassignment earlier in the week.
Delgado’s promotion now gives Gwinnett all four of the franchises top pitching prospects and four of Baseball America’s top 100 prospects in baseball (along with RHP Julio Teheran, LHP Mike Minor, and recently promoted Arodys Vizcaino).
Ben Swaggerty was sent to Double-A Mississippi to make room for Delgado.
ON DECK:
Gwinnett has an off day Wednesday before heading to Charlotte for a two game series with IL South rival Knights that opens Thursday in Fort Mill S.C.

TheIL announced Monday that 1B Jorge Vazquez and Columbus P Justin Germano have been named the League’s Batter and Pitcher of the week for W/E July 31. Columbus now has had six PoTW winners this season matching the G-Braves for most in the IL.
