August 31, 2011, In DALLAS – Texas governor and national GOP presidential front runner Rick Perry, today reiterated his national message to hundreds of supporters from DFW, saying, “It’s time for change.” Perry was speaking at a fundraiser at the local Dallas Fairmont Hotel.
“We have to get America working again. We have to give people hope,” Perry explained. Promising that “Government is not going to be there overtaxing and over litigating,” if he is the next President of the United States, Perry was tapping tried and true money sources that have come through for him before.
Several local Dallas businessmen were a part of this fund raising effort for Rick Perry, including
- Brint Ryan, head of a super political action committee that seeks to raise large amounts of cash
- Dallas billionaire, Harold Simmons, longtime Perry supporter
- Roy Bailey, fundraiser for the presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Few details have emerged about the closed event, but the Boston Herald reported that Perry quoted his wife, who warned him ” Don’t go there and say anything controversial.” One organizer, Bailey, did share that Perry was greeted in Dallas with an enthusiastic full house.
