If you’re a fan of both George Lucas and war movies, you are in for a good time.
According to the movie’s official Facebook page, Red Tails “is based on the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American combat pilots during World War II, and is the first Lucasfilm Ltd. production since Radioland Murders (1994) not to be associated with the Indiana Jones or Star Wars franchises.”
Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait a little while. According to a new trailer released for the movie, it won’t be released to theaters until Jan. 20. (View the trailer on the left side of this page.)
According to Wikipedia, the Tuskegee Airmen were responsible for:
- One hundred and twelve German aircraft destroyed in the air, another 150 on the ground;
- Nine hundred and fifty railcars, trucks and other motor vehicles destroyed;
- One destroyer sunk by P-47 machine gun fire; and
- A good record of protecting U.S. bombers, losing only 25 on hundreds of missions.
Expect a lot of action.
