American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer believes homosexuality should be criminalized. Homosexuality has long been criticized, labeled as both a mental disorder and something that needs to be criminalized. Fischer openly spoke on his talk show, Focal Point on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011, in regards to the legal implications of ‘homosexuality and sodomy’, using the two interchangeably.

With the presidential elections of 2012 around the corner, spokespersons for various political groups are speaking out, making their voices heard in regards to the ‘gay and lesbian political agenda’. Fischer. Among those speaking out, is the same person that stated the Holocaust was started by ‘homosexual thugs’. As a person in the public eye, Fischer appears to be on a personal mission to increase negative stereotypes regarding the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community. In his Focal Point segment that aired on August 30th, 2011, he stated:
Both of the cases that went to the United States Supreme Court that dealt with the issue of whether states should criminalize sodomy, and of course they still ought to be able to do it, every state in the union criminalized sodomy until 1962 and then forty nine states until 1972, then they began to fall like dominoes. But by the time of the founding until the late 20th Century, homosexual activity was a felony offense in the United States of America, there is no reason why it cannot be a criminal offense once again, absolutely none.
With so many political agendas to take into consideration in the 2012 United States presidential elections, it’s no wonder more and more people are making their points be heard loud and clear, a lot is on the line. What do you think of Fischer’s statements? How do you think the 2012 presidential will reflect the many viewpoints related to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community?
