Every GameStop across the country has been told to remove the coupon (free OnLive copy of the game) inside the PC box of the new game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So, if you are contemplating the purchase of DEHR for the PC at a GameStop near St. Louis, you should probably buy it elsewhere. An accusation of why GameStop is doing this is because they purchased Spawn Labs, which happens to be a direct competitor to OnLive (Johnson).
Deus Ex: Human Revolution was recently released, four years after its original announcement, on August 23, 2011 in the U.S. for the PC, PS3 and 360. DEHR was developed by Eidos Montreal for the PS3/360 and Nixxes Software for the PC and published by Square Enix. It is rated M (Mature) for blood, drug reference, intense violence, sexual themes, use of alcohol and strong language.
The genre of DEHR is a cyberpunk action role-playing game, but contains first-person shooter elements as well. Single-player is the major game mode in the game.
There probably will be more establishments in the series and its predecessor is Deus Ex: Invisible War. DEHR is the third installment in the Deus Ex series (the first is called Deus Ex) and happens to be a prequel to that first game.
The major reasons why the game is so good is because it is very open-ended, the storyline is very deep and the event outcomes are largely based on the conversations.
The major reasons why the game is bad is because of the amount of ammo, the game takes too long to load and now there are boss fights. Metacritic gave it a Metascore of 89 out of 100 for the PC/PS3/360.
Even though DEHR has some downsides, it is still worth buying, unless you are not a fan of the first two Deus Ex games. For those who don’t fit those qualifications, this game is perfect for you and can be purchased here in St. Louis.
At GameStop/EB Games and Amazon.com, DEHR is about $60 for the PS3/360 and $50 for the PC (at Walmart (no PC available) it is only $55 and at Family Video it is only $53 for the PS3/360 and $48 for the PC). At Sears/Kmart it is $60 for the 360 and sold out for the PC/PS3. At Target, the PS3 is only available online.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Augmented Edition(PS3) is $10 more than the original. At GameStop/EB Games and Amazon.com, all three versions are in-stock. At Walmart it is out-of-stock online and is not sold in stores. At Family Video, the PS3/360 is temporarily out-of-stock and the PC is not sold. At Sears/Kmart, all three versions are sold out. At Target, the PS3 is in-stock, but the 360 is on backorder and will be in-stock in two-four weeks.
A pre-owned game from GameStop/EB Games only costs $55 for the PS3/360 and great deals can be found at Amazon.com. At Amazon.com, a PC download of DEHR is only $35 and the Augmented Edition is only $42.
