The “Rickroll” is, perhaps, the internet’s oldest meme. For as long as smart-assed internet denizens have been playing link-based practical jokes on one another, Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”– which may, in fact, be one of the worst-slash-greatest songs ever written– has been there. But after 14,567,219 variations on the “Rickroll” meme, how does one keep that particular punchline snappy? By bringing the “Rickroll” to the real world. See it in action below, my gentle Examiner readers…
We made a promise a long, long time ago never to bring up Rick Astley, “Never Gonna Give You Up”, or the “Rickrolling” meme here at Comedy Examiner HQ, and for the past going-on-three-years, we have maintained that promise. Today, that changes.
The Funny Photo— which you can see over there on the left; just click the “Slideshow” box to see it Biggie-Sized, folks– was sent in by Funny Photo submission all-star “Cheryl S.”, and she begged us to run it. The begging was unnecessary, Cheryl: we actually quite enjoyed this one. Sure, it’s “Rickroll”-related, and yeah, that’s probably about five years past being funny, but– try as we might– we found ourselves powerless not to giggle like an idiot at the photo on the left. What can we say? We still think fart jokes are funny.
As always, you can stay tuned for more Funny Photos in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead (assuming some angry bartender doesn’t assassinate your humble Comedy Examiner first), and– also “as always”– you can send in your own Funny Photos for a chance to have them featured here at Comedy Examiner HQ. If they’re selected, you’ll be given credit and all the glory that comes with seeing your name in digital print. Just think how jealous your friends are gonna be! Stay tuned for more, ladies.
