The Mayo Performing Arts Center and The Arts Council of the Morris Area, will be present a free community memorial event. This event will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 11, 2011. In order to hold a special event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, much of the community will be involved.
The program on the main stage will include song, dance, speech and more, involving local school children, local officials, religious organizations and community nonprofits.
There is no need for tickets as this is open to everyone. In an effort to support local families the MPAC will be coordinating with Tuesday Children. This is an official non-profit organization that assists those directly impacted by the horrific events of September 11th. Their long term efforts help children live on after being affected by the terrorist’s attacks.
In the lobby of the theater, portions from the book “The Legacy Letters” will be available to read or purchase. All proceeds will go towards helping families affected by the terroristic attacks.
It will be followed by a brief outdoor program at the Vail Mansion. In a reflective pool, 64 candles will be lit to remember the 64 people from Morris County who died that day.
The Mayo Performing Arts Center is at 100 South St. For more information, go to www.mayoarts.org.
An important event for the entire family to attend, remember those who are still grieving and suffering loss.
