August 30, 2011 – A free “Back to School Labor Day Concert Celebration,” featuring the dynamic Brazilian rhythms of Brasil Brazil, will be presented by the South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) in partnership with the South Pasadena Public Library on Thursday, September 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the El Centro Street side of the library grounds near Diamond Avenue, adjacent to the Farmers’ Market.
Brasil Brazil, the critically acclaimed Brazilian vocal duo of Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos, will perform popular Brazilian music in a variety of styles with an uplifting Carnaval beat. “Gazzola and Santos have developed a musical formula based on a slick, well-crafted display of movement and music,” wrote jazz expert Don Heckman in the Los Angeles Times, with a “vocal togetherness” that is “as brightly colored as their outfits.” And Patricia Albela, of LA Jazz Scene said that: “Infectious rhythms, tasty arrangements, cool harmonies, and mesmerizing blend of the two sultry voices are what this vocal duo is about.”
Bring a chair or a blanket, grab some food at the Farmer’s Market, and enjoy the sounds of Brasil Brazil. See more about them here.
