Foster Parents; Hosting mini seminars.
2 / 3.
In part 1, we started building our foundation for this question; what can you do about it? Missed part one? Here, is a link to catch up on what we are talking about.
Question; a picture (in this case a video) is worth a thousand words. Did you watch the clip we offered you. Impact is important, take time go watch it now. Keep foster care in your mind while you vew it.
Let us continue with our foundation now. You see, for those who are not aware of the problems foster parents face in accepting placements, some of the children we receive are dysfunctional with serious mental, emotional, or medically challenged. Now, with the CPS child abuse hotline it is an easy thing to do, anyone can do it. There are no penalties for false reporting, the person remains anonymous, no one even bothers to look into the caller’s motives so it is essentially an invitation for disaster, a path of destruction for the storm called allegations to travel upon.
- The child who calls in the allegations is moved to another foster home while the foster parent that is left behind in the wake of the storm this foster parent now faces an investigation, possible closure of their home, losing their foster care license and even being placed on the child abuse registry.
Foster parents who choose to fight back against this travesty of justice often have to make an incredibly difficult decision how to fund this devastatingly expense event that has taken place in their lives. We have witnessed mortgages placed on free and clear homes, property sold at discounted prices in order to pay for their attorneys. Clearing their name and reputation is more pertinent to them than possessions. In the mean-time, the child responsible for this false allegation and destruction is on to the next in a series foster homes.
- We, that is Foster Parents Legal Solutions, understand the frightening place where foster parents stand in the wake of this storm. We are here to assist in any way that we can. This atrocity needs to cease.
We believe that education can assist in this dilemma, although nothing can stop allegations from taking place, the fact remains that planning for an emergency landing can save you from injury. Learn all you can about documentation, which also seems to be rare in the training.
Theory, if you teach our foster parents how to complete the steps in from the very first placement, that is, throughout their experience in fostering, it may save a few out of the thousands we lose every year.
- Questions; Do you know what to do? Have you been instructed on how to document? Do you know what to do in the event of an allegation? Link to a partical listing of our educational resources.
If your answer to these questions is no, you need to take the initiative! Go to your state or local Foster Parents Associations, they receive grants to fund educational workshops and training, tell them that you need to know more about Allegations, the 1st part in a six part series, Documentation 10 part series, Administrative law.the first in a series of five.
