Labor Day Weekend the unofficial end of summer. While there are many getaway and entertainment options within Denver and The State of Colorado to enjoy, some may wish to “fly the coop”. Many airlines provide access to sale fares for the upcoming weekend (usually posted early Tuesday morning)and some for the following weekend.
You can review the departure city and see what destinations are available. A suggestion, input both Denver and Colorado Springs as gateway airports. If in the mountains, look at Eagle, Aspen, Gunnison and Hayden as well. From experience mountain airports offer last-minute fares during the winter season when service is expanded.
When searching for these fares, each airline has unique travel rules and restrictions. I usually suggest taking a few minutes and doing a search by airline. For example, I would do a search for United E-Fares or Last Minute US Airways Fares.
I found the following for Labor Day Weekend from Denver and Colorado Springs. Please note; prices are round-trip, tax additional and subject to availability.
On Continental, there is a Denver to Calgary fare available for $284. From Colorado Springs, there is a fare to Houston for $254.
On US Airways, there is a Denver to St. Thomas (United States Virgin Islands) fare for $330. Labor Day Weekend in the Caribbean, sign me up.
On Southwest there is a weekend fare to Salt Lake City for $118. Beat’s driving the 8+ hours each way.
As of publication United and American did not have last-minutes fares from either Denver or Colorado Springs. Frontier Airlines uses a reservation search for last-minute fares and thus are not listed by origin and destination.
Happy and Safe Travels.
