Flashpoint: The Legion of Doom is another entry in the DC Comics Flashpoint storyline. This storyline is leading up to the big relaunch coming up in August. As you can probably tell from the name, this story is going to center on a villain; Heatwave to be specific.
The great thing about this comic is that you don’t have to be a fan of Heatwave, or even know much about him. The comic reveals it all to you, making it easy for someone to just start reading. The comic starts off with Heatwave killing one of the two people that make up the hero Firestorm. This is what starts the amazing story; it grabs you in and has you on the edge of your seat. Things are different in the world of Flashpoint, very different. In this world, the Hall of Doom is used as a prison for super criminals. The atmosphere is very gritty, and displays a sense of “no hope”. The story is edgy, and will keep you entertained throughout. Many heroes and villains make an appearance in the comic; such as Zsasz, Amazo, Cyborg, and even Plastic Man! It is only the first in a three issue story arc, but it has something that makes you want to read those next issues; something that is no small feat and should not be taken lightly.
All in all, the story is interesting, the art is spot on great, and will leave you wanting more. This is a must read for any DC fan that is keeping up with the entire Flashpoint story. Writer Adam Glass and artists Rodney Buchemi, Jose Marzan, and Miguel Angel Sepulveda have done a fantastic job!
