On the 10th Anniversary of the Terror Attacks, This Nonprofit Fundraising Event Features Many Activities for the Entire Family, Including Concerts, Food, Run/Walk, Vendors, Car & Motorcycle Shows and a Military Flyover
A new Denver-area family event takes place on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. – the 9/11 Freedom Rally. The Rally is free to spectators, with modest entry fees for competitors or entrants in the car and motorcycle shows, the walk/run, and the motorcycle ride that are all part of this unique event.
Other activities include kid and teen zones, a military vehicle and first responder vehicle display, precision skydivers, canine corner, hand-cycling race, a stunning flag tribute to the fallen inside Dick’s stadium, a custom motorcycle raffle and other events. Among all planned Denver-area 9/11 events, this is the only known public festival that raises critical funds to support charities that assist military veterans, active duty personnel and first responders such as firefighters, police and paramedics, along with their families. More than a year in planning, the 9/11 Freedom Rally is organized by the Colorado Charity Alliance (CCA), which was formed in 2010 by several nonprofit organizations. Net proceeds from the Rally will be distributed to the numerous member nonprofits and other charities of choice.
A Celebration of American Resilience
The Rally is a celebration of American resilience and freedom and intends “to honor and respect those who serve and protect.” The Rally aims to reclaim the date of September 11 as one of celebrating and honoring while still remembering those lost in the terrorist attacks and subsequent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Rally at Dick’s runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Major sponsors of the Rally include Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, KMGH-Channel 7, KYGO Radio, Cruisin’ Oldies 950AM/103.1FM, Best Buy, Coca-Cola, Law Tigers, Pugs Gear, Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, MilitaryEvents.us and others.
