“In Heaven, Underground: The Jewish Cemetery in Berlin-Weissenssee”
The oldest Jewish cemetery still in use in Europe can be found in the North of Berlin’s city centre. One of the few institutions to remain in Jewish hands during the Nazi regime, the Weissensee Jewish Cemetery holds 115,000 graves. “In Heaven, Underground” follows mourners, tourists, a young family residing at the cemetery, a third-generation gravedigger, and an ornithologist studying rare birds of prey.

“Small Town Murder Songs”
The violent past of an aging police officer catches up with him when he starts investigating a murder where the partner of a woman with whom he previously had an affair is the prime suspect.
When: August 31-September 3 (9 p.m.)
Admission: $6 (Cinematheque and Winnipeg Film Group members), $7 (students and seniors), $8 (non-members). The box office will open 30 minutes before showtime
