The Escapist recently had a public confrontation with one of their video contributors, Extra Credits. But that’s old news (You can check out the full story on how Extra Credits left The Escapist here.) But this conflict seems to be making new progress, as the videos for Extra Credits have disappeared from The Escapist’s website.
It might seem like a natural response for The Escapist to remove an old contributor’s videos from their website, but they have not done it for any of their other past contributors. (You can see all the past series’ videos remaining here.) We can only speculate what this could mean for both for Escapist Magazine, Alexander Macris, and the Extra Credits crew.
As said in the past, they were in talks over obtaining the intellectual property since Extra Credits wanted to make t-shirts featuring Extra Credits material. Could the Extra Credits crew have negotiated exclusive rights to the videos?
Or possibly Escapist Magazine didn’t want to promote their show on their website any more after they continued their show off the site?
Also, it was reported that on Escapist Magazine’s Youtube channel, they posted the old Extra Credits videos. This was shortly after Extra Credits made the move to Youtube. I saw them posted on there myself but I failed to screenshot it and they have since been taken down. (Please leave a comment if you have seen the Extra Credits videos on Youtube.)
I have contacted Alexander Macris for comment.
