Pack up the fam and “Explore the Shore” at Owen Beach near Point Defiance State Park. This is a Nature Mapping Event and is a hands on experience for both adults and children interested in learning more about what goes on in the Sound.
The adventure begins Sunday July 31, ( tomorrow ) at 10:30 a.m. and lasts until 1:30 p.m. This low tide beachwalk is to help identify tide pool creatures and record their presence and location. Naturalists from the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium will be on hand to answer questions as well as enter and upload the information in to the NatureMapping database.
Just show up and have fun with your family, no registration is required and the event is free. A tent and table will be set up near the parking lot for participants to meet and remember to pack sunscreen and a jacket as our gorgeous Puget Sound weather can be fickle!
