On August 5, 2011, in Fort Myers, Florida, there will be a restoration of sorts at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.
Located in Fort Myers is The Winter Estates which was named after two famous men who lived in the city right next door to each other. They were Thomas Edison and Henry Ford!
When it came to coconut palms, both Thomas and wife, Mina, loved them, so they planted dozens of the trees along their McGregor Boulevard fence and at the visitor gate to their winter estate.
Join staff, Estates Board of Trustees, special guests Landscape Architect and Estates Trustee Helen Hendry and garden patron Berne Davis as they remember the Edison Coconuts first hand.
In addition, will be City of Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson. All these special guests will dedicate the planting of two of the coconut palms and begin the restoration process which will continue over the next year (2012).
Refreshments will be served at the event.
For those who want to attend this event at The Winter Estates please RSVP by calling (239) 334-7419.
