According to the Canadian Press, The Canadian Olympic Committee will have a new Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General.
On Wednesday, Jean Dupre announced his resignation and will be replaced by Chris Overholt.
Overholt’s previous position with the COC was their Chief Operating and Marketing Officer where he also oversaw the company’s business development.
Overholt has experience working in the organizations of the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League, the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League, and the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association in the past. Overholt will continue to work very closely with COC President Marcel Aubut. The two have an extensive hockey background, as Aubut was the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Quebec Nordiques.
Overholt’s first major assignment will help prepare the Canadian team in its efforts toward an excellent showing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, which is less than a year away.
