The Dog Patch of Naperville combined with the DuPage County Fair is sponsoring an adoption event this year in Wheaton for the very first time. This event is very exciting since it has never been offered before and they hope that you can stop in and be a part of the new action!
Typically, dogs are not allowed on the Fairgrounds during fair week, but this year they are trying something new. The double crown of the DuPage County Fair plus Dog Patch Pet and Feed of Naperville, together are sponsoring the very first adoption event during Fair week, July 27-31st.
The following Rescues and Shelters will all be in attendance daily:
- Wednesday, July 27th: 3-5 PM Bombshell Bullies Pit Bull Rescue; 5-8 PM As Good as Gold
- Thursday, July 28th: 3-5 PM Australian Cattle Dog Rescue of Illinois; 5-8 PM Hinsdale Humane Society
- Friday, July 29th: 3-5 PM DuPage County Animal Care; 5-6 PM Control 4 Paws 4 U 4 Ever
On the weekend, these Rescues and Shelters will all be in attendance daily:
- Saturday, July 30th: 11 AM – 2 PM Cry for Help Rescue; 4-7 PM Adopt a Husky
- Sunday, July 31st: 11 AM – 2 PM PACT Humane Society; 4-7 PM Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois
There should be at least 10 dogs or puppies per Organization that will be needing homes during these times.
Why are we so lucky to have this extraordinary event right here in our very own neighborhood? Why two DuPage County Fair Board Members inspired it of course. Please join with me to thank President Jim McGuire and Director Carey Peterson. Both of these fine individuals have adopted rescue dogs from local area shelters this past year.
Both Mr. McGuire and Ms. Peterson were in awe of the many hundreds of dogs that are currently living in shelters or in foster homes. These dogs are in search of forever homes and both Jim and Carey made a vow to help place as many dogs as possible.
Their goal is to see at least 50 dogs and puppies will get adopted over the five days that the fair will be in town. They established this goal while they, themselves, were searching for a new dog to love.
Dog Patch Pet and Feed is even offering an added bonus of a gift card for use in their store for every adoptive family. So, if your are planning on adopting and would like to attend this event, please contact either the shelters listed above about their adoption procedures and about their application policies and to see their adoptees.
