Twice a year, Dr. John McDougall gathers plant-based nutrition luminaries from all over the world to present their findings regarding the latest in eating a plant-based diet.

McDougall Advanced Nutrition Study Weekends are dedicated to broadening the understanding of plant-food based nutrition and conservative medical care. The impressive guest speakers present new opinions and research.

Even though these are called “advanced study,” weekends, these educational events are designed for the benefit and enjoyment of those just beginning on the road to better health, as well as medical and nutrition professionals. Everyone benefits.

The McDougall 3-Day Advanced Study Weekend in Santa Rosa, California

These weekends are held twice a year and are dedicated to broadening the understanding of plant-food based nutrition and conservative medical care. New opinions and research are presented to our sophisticated audiences. Even though we call them “advanced study,” these educational events are designed for the benefit and enjoyment of those just beginning on the road to better health, as well as medical and nutrition professionals.

Dr. Robert A. Rosati – The Rice Diet, started by Walter Kempner, MD in 1939, was the beginning of science backed diet therapy in the US. Learn about this powerful program from Dr. Robert A. Rosati, the Director of The Rice Diet Program, Associate Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Duke University, Board Certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. He has thirty years of experience on the prevention and treatment of kidney disease, heart disease, hypertension, hyper-cholesterolemia, diabetes, and obesity to share with you during this weekend.

Nathaniel Dominy, PhD – Research on genetics and a starch-based human diet.

Dennis Bourdette, MD – Chairman of the Department of Neurology and Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Center at OHSU where the Diet and MS Study is being conducted.

Neal Barnard, MD – Founder and Director of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Robert Vogel, MD – Professor of Medicine and Director of Clinical Vascular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

An extraordinary plant-based buffet menu

The delicious foods served during the weekend dispel a common myth that healthy foods are not satisfying or delicious. Attendees enjoy all-you-can-eat buffet tables filled with Italian Lasagna, Mexican Enchiladas and Burritos, Thai Noodles, Shepherd’s Pie, salads and desserts.

There is no medical care offered during this weekend unless you are already an established patient of Dr. McDougall’s. In that case follow-up visits can be arranged. For an extra charge, basic blood tests (cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, and thyroid function) can be done during this program.

Cost for the 3-day weekend, including meals and education (excluding room), is $465 per person. Discounted room rates have been arranged.
